One More Note on ZOHO

I'm such a stubborn girl and that led me to playing with the funky posting. FYI: when I edited within Blogger it no longer recognized the picture that had come across with the orignal post. I did find in ZOHO where you can click on Update Post which will send the corrected version into Blogger. All good. Must stop playing and go pay bills now. Gosh darn responsibility!

More testing to go

I just saw a couple of mistakes in the posting I did through ZOHO. Time to see if the changes made in ZOHO carry over into my blog. Back in a moment....please hold.

Nope. I changed the title and one of the words in the post itself. Although the changes took hold in ZOHO, they didn't transfer into Blogger. SO, I suppose the options are to update the info in Blogger 'Edit Posts' OR delete the post in Blogger and resend the corrected version from ZOHO. Whatever! I'm liking ZOHO.

I've been sitting here for at least 45 minutes and am really getting carried away learning about ZOHO Writer. That's just one of many possibilites to choose from. I'm really excited about the 'Sites 4 Students' assignment because I finally see options that are useful (no offense to the Twitter fans!). At least half of the sites listed in the assignment sound interesting to me so I'll be checking those out next. So much information to absorb. =)

Sites 4 Students trial run

Well, let's see how ZOHO works.  I'm currently in 'ZOHO Writer' and am going to attempt to post whatever I write here into my blog.  According to what I read, there are many more options than writing from withing Blogger itself.  As usual I have to find out for myself.  Curiosity killed the cat you know.

ok, i just found where to change the font and i'm liking not capitalizing show let's go with that feel for a bit.  what next?  i already tried spell-check.  how about some sort of smiley?  let's see what they've got.  undecided  hmmmm, a tad skimpy in that area.  onward to.......somehow i'm supposed to be able to do all kinds of cool page set ups.  i'm gonna save this first and then search more.

that was interesting.  i messed with the page setup and found where you can add all kinds of things as headers and footers.  unfortunately it's not turning out quite as planned SO i will now attempt to insert a photo directly into the document.  here gos nothin'.

yet again, not as planned.  the image ended up in its own document.  must keep searching...

 BINGO!!

now to attempt putting it in my blog.  if you're reading this i've succeeded.

Twitter

Hmmm. I logged into Twitter and so far don't see the advantages. It just seems like email. It was nice to find "udweller" though....always a pleasant surprise. Part 2 of the assignment is to create an account. At this point I'm considering whether to skip that.

Facebook

The mad rush is almost over as I'm nearly caught up on the assignments. Here's what is listed as the homework for this week's assignment:
  1. Go to Facebook and take the site tour (click on “Tour” in the upper right hand corner, then, click on each of the links under “Site Tour” in the right sidebar)
  2. Read this post by Meredith Farkas on Social Networking in Libraries
  3. Write a blog post on your thoughts about the utility of social networking in libraries

Task 1: DONE
Task 2: DONE
Task 3: You're looking at it

I don't have many thoughts on this subject yet since I haven't actually looked around Facebook (other than the 'tour') and don't have a MySpace account either. My plan is to sign up for Facebook once I post this. Ta-ta.

WWW of W pt.II

Week 2 of the Wiki is upon me. I just played around in the KRL wiki which was kinda fun and will be even more interesting once more people add content. My department's page is very empty...only my entry so far. Where are you???....echo...echo...echo.

Not much to say since I pretty much said it in the last post. I'm very curious to get to Facebook so that's where I'm headed now.

Peace out.

Wild Wild World of Wiki

It's week one of Wiki learning. I watched the tutorials, viewed suggested wikis, and am left with mixed feelings. The Stevens County Wiki Project started to get me inspired because of their link to community activities. I'm always looking for new things to try within the county. How fun that it's all together at a click away for them. I'd love it if that was included in our wiki.

I find myself coming back to the same thought on most of these assignments though. Who the heck has the time to maintain, say their blog, let alone signing up for 10 different sites???? Sorry, but I can't even keep up with the 4 email addresses I have and that's without adding in all these extra activities! Yes, many of the sites are cool but I don't see how it's possible to work full-time, do the daily stuff you gotta do and still have time to sit in front of your computer to mess with all the new stuff that pops up week to week.....well, unless you've got an IV coffee drip and NEVER sleep! On that note, I must go onto the rest of the assignment and check out the krl2pt0 wiki.
